TALK: ART AS A LIGHTHOUSE

talk by cultural entrepreneur and author Karen Toftegaard

We’re living in stormy times. The world feels uncertain — we’re facing multiple crises, shrinking or reprioritized budgets, shifts in which discourses can unfold, and challenges in bringing new generations into the arts. Especially in times like these, art serves as a lighthouse for communities and individuals.

And professionals in the arts are lighthouse keepers. Our job is to keep the light shining — to care for it, to keep it clear, and to ensure it reaches others. However, lighthouse keepers also need care — and strategies to avoid getting stuck in moral distress or exhaustian.

The purpose of this talk is to fuel lighthouse keepers with inspiration and practical tools to navigate the challenges that arise in stormy weather. Among other things, Karen will share mindset strategies drawn from her experience with long-running festivals such as the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

When: 26. November 5.00pm - 6.00pm CET
